The Clatford Bellringers
Upper Clatford & Goodworth Clatford Churches

The Clatford Bellringers generally have their practices on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm.

The 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays are at St Peter's, Goodworth Clatford and the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays are usually at All Saints', Upper Clatford. This is subject to seasonal variations and it is always wise to check with the Secretary.

Ringing church bells is a traditional English art, the skill being passed down from generation to generation. There are few places outside the Bristish Isles where church bells are rung in this way.

We welcome visitors who just want to come and watch, especially those from overseas who would not have the opportunity to see this in their own country. We are also happy to welcome anyone who wants to come and learn to ring, or anybody who would like to come and have a go without committing themselves.

Further details from the Secretary (see below)

In March two Clatford ringers joined a Guild Education Day at Hawkley to further their knowledge of one particular aspect of ringing; these courses are held four or five times each year, each covering a different subject. Apart from a concentrated day of learning, they are a great way to meet and ring with people from churches right across the county.

After Easter we will begin collecting books for our Bellringers' Bookstall at Goodworth Clatford's Flower Show and Fete on August Bank Holiday Monday. If, therefore, you have PAPERBACKS in good condition which need a new home, you are welcome to leave them at the back of All Saints' or St. Peter's (inside). Could we please ask that these are in carrier bags, NOT boxes, and not too many together; unfortunately if they are in large boxes we simply cannot lift them!!

Our normal practice evenings are 1 st , 3 rd and 5 th Wednesdays at St. Peter's, with the 2 nd and 4 th Wednesdays at All Saints', starting at 7.30 pm. During Lent, however, ALL our Wednesday evening practices will be at St. Peter's, reverting to our normal pattern after Easter. We are always pleased to see visitors, but don't forget that all enquiries and wedding bookings should be made through Angela Rogers , on 01264 323532.
