PARISH VISITORS
Geoff Scard was one of the six lay people from the Deanery to be commissioned as a Parish Visitor by Bishop Peter. Geoff joins Emily Fabricius ( Upper Clatford ) and Tim Tayler (Abbotts Ann) as local pastoral contacts.
Would you like to know more about the Bible?
How can such an ancient book be relevant in today's modern world? Did Jesus really exist? If these sort of questions interest you, we are thinking of starting a House Group to talk over issues like this and would like to hear from you.

St. Peter's Music Group
The Music Group provides the music for the Family Service and meets on alternate Friday evenings in St. Peter's Room to practise under the direction of Iona Macdonald, a young musician who plays – among other things – the bagpipes and violin. We are extremely fortunate to have Iona , and the youngsters' confidence and ability has improved tremendously. Rehearsals are great fun!!
We now have four flute, one clarinet and two violin players (one player plays flute and violin!)
A new member joined us recently and we are always happy to welcome new youngsters; we hope they enjoy the practices. We play a variety of music arranged by Iona , not just hymns, so if you are interested do give me a ring and come along!
The music stands which the Group has been using were falling apart, and we are very grateful to Goodworth Clatford Parish Council for their donation towards new, better quality ones.

St. Peter's Children's Corner
We are looking to improve our Children's Corner in the church and would be most grateful for offers of quiet toys and suitable books, if anyone has any they don't need any more.
Many thanks - Jane Eastwood - Churchwarden
St. Peter's Spire |

|
When I see the church spire lit up it means a great deal to me, whether at Christmas or on some other occasion. It is wonderful to see the lit spire silently proclaiming the presence of our church and the Christian faith. Your PCC thought that people might like to have the spire lit on a special occasion personal to them, perhaps to remember a loved one or a significant date in their life. |
If you are interested in this possibility, please let me know, and the spire could be lit on your special date for a donation to St Peter's. If desired a notice could be displayed on the church notice board explaining why the spire was lit up.

THE RE-SHINGLING OF THE SPIRE I am sure you will all remember the fund raising that went on to raise money for re-shingling the spire at St. Peter's! Many, many people helped in different ways and a booklet was produced to record all that was done. Shingles were sold, many in memoriam, and all the names are listed. We thought that people might like to buy a copy (£2.50 each to cover costs) especially those who purchased shingles in memory of someone. There are still a few copies left, so please call in to the Post Office to have a look. Jane Eastwood - Churchwarden
And a PS from the bellringers ....... if you hear the bells ringing, please don't lock the door as we are up in the tower practising! Fortunately we have a key but it is a bit disconcerting to find we have been locked in!!

WE NEED SOME MORE SIDESMEN at ST. PETER'S
COULD YOU HELP?
Sidesmen and women are needed at St. Peter's to welcome people as they arrive for a service and to give out hymn books etc. More people means that you won't be asked too often. Also, if you can't manage the date you have been given, then you just swap with someone else on the list, so it isn't too bad at all. Do you think you could help in this way? If so, please come and have a chat and I can tell you more about it. Hope to hear from you.

St. Peter's Keys
A GENTLE REMINDER to all those who kindly lock up St. Peter's Church - Would you please just go inside and call out to check that no-one is inside. Recently there was someone doing the flowers and she was locked in! Fortunately it was a Friday and the music group was practising in St. Peter's Room; they heard the door handle to the church being rattled vigorously, investigated, and all was well ..... but it might not have been, so please just check.
Thank you - Jane Eastwood - Churchwarden
