RIVERSIDE WALK in
GOODWORTH CLATFORD

The September Bat evening lead by Kate Savage was successful as 12 people, each equipped with bat detectors, saw and heard Daubenton's and Pipistrelle bats. The sounds of Noctule and Serotine bats were identified amongst many confusing noises on a very busy bat evening. It was suggested that a similar evening should be repeated on a future occasion as several villagers were unable to go and those attending wanted more!

Our annual meeting will be in St. Peter's Room, St. Peter's Church on 28 th October at 7.30. Updates on the Riverside Walk will be given and planned village projects will be described. Refreshments will be available on your arrival. If you are interested in the work of the village Environmental Group then we would be pleased to see you.

On Thursday 13 th November in the Village Club at 7.45 we have a talk by Graham Roberts: ‘From Source to Sea' describing the wildlife and wonderful biodiversity along the entire length of a river. Graham, who is the South East Rivers and Otters Officer, opened our Riverside walk last year. Children will be admitted free, adults £3, which includes refreshments.

Our last 2008 task day will be on Saturday 22 nd November when conservation work on clearing more selected areas will be completed. On the October task day the display boards were oiled to protect them from the winter weather and routine path clearance was completed.

There will be no task days in December and January, but more are planned for 28 th February, 28 th March and 25 th April next year.

If you would like to give some time between 10.00 and 12.00 on any of these dates please contact Kate on 01264 365267. Thank you.
